I'm meteorologist, Kat Campbell. In the wr a severe weather center, temperatures topped out in the low to mid fifties as expected this afternoon. But tonight will be the coldest night of the week. So make sure that you've got your jackets with you. Temperatures are back below freezing for all of central North Carolina with most of us in the twenties. 25 in Roxboro, 28 in Durham, 29 Raleigh 30 in Fayetteville at 27 in Southern Pines. It's mostly clear, not as windy tonight, but boy, it's going to be chilly outside as you wake up tomorrow morning, temps will be in the twenties and thirties by 10 a.m. We're just in the low forties and then as we head into the afternoon, we should warm up into the mid f by about 23 o'clock, we will see plenty of sunshine. It's a nice dry day, but a cool day you'll need the extra layers. Now, the cold snap does not last for long. Temperatures warm up after tomorrow. 63 on Friday, 68 Saturday. Both of those days look really nice if you need to get some holiday shopping done. Sunday were warmest of them all 70 degrees. But Sunday's forecast looks turbulent with showers and perhaps some strong thunderstorms in the forecast. Still looking good for the Saturday parades across the area. Durham Fayetteville, Holly Springs all have their parades at 10 a.m. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 50 s at that time. But for the Kerry parade, since it's during the afternoon, it's going to be pretty warm with temperatures in the mid sixties, we do have a small chance of rain in the forecast Saturday night, but the bulk of the rain is going to move in on Sunday. And while there could be this initial b early in the day, we'll get a better feel for the timing hour by hour as we get toward the high resolution model data closer to the weekend. But the bottom line here is, it looks like it will be pretty stormy late Saturday, late Sunday, I should say. And last into Sunday night as well, 11 o'clock, you can see some heavy rain approaching the area and perhaps some winter weather in the North Carolina Mountains. All this will clear out by the time you wake up Monday morning the way it looks. But with the trends we've been noticing, we are seeing an increasing signal for perhaps some severe weather on Sunday, this deep dive of the jet stream coupled with a little bit of a tilt to it. That's a recipe for some strong to severe storms, however, it is not locked in just yet. We got to really work the timing of this event and we should get a better feel in the coming days. So, no need to panic. But we want to give you an early heads up to keep an eye on Sunday's forecast because given the jet stream set up, we could be dealing with some strong to severe storms. We've got plenty of energy with temperatures warming up near 70. It won't last for long though. Once we get past the weekend, another cool down on the way for next week with lows back below freezing, we'll be back down in the twenties by next Wednesday morning.

Police said a suspect was found dead Wednesday as officers responded to an active shooter and reports of multiple victims at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Understand when you call that number or you check the website, the information right now will still be limited and there won't be any specific information as far as uh individuals that have been uh injured or, or deceased sheriff, what's happening on the campus now leaving. So, as you can imagine, the campus is a very large area to cover much like we had in the aftermath of 1 October. There's a lot of additional calls coming in that students hunker down. They're afraid they're scared. Our officers are going unit by unit building by building with the university police and the rest of the police officers, firefighters, ems and making sure that we don't have any additional victims and, or subjects. Uh, we are going to step away, but let's what I can tell you. The biggest news is that the suspect is deceased. There are no other threats. There are multiple victims that was sent to the hospital. Hospital mcmahill can not tell us the number of victims. There is also a Reunification Center at the Convention Center and Sheriff mcmahill says that they will provide us with another update as soon as we get that, we'll be sure to bring those to you on air online. Uh But LaToya Dana, that's the very latest, we'll send it back to you.

Las Vegas police speak about about shooting at UNLV

Police said a suspect was found dead Wednesday as officers responded to what officials of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, called a "confirmed active shooter" on campus.

<p>SO POSTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA THERE WERE REPORTS OF SHOTS FIRED IN THE STUDENT UNION, AND THEY URGED PEOPLE TO EVACUATE THE AREA AND RUN, HIDE OR FIGHT. LET'S GET RIGHT TO NBC INVESTIGATIVE CORRESPONDENT, TOM WINTER, TRACKING DEVELOPMENTS. &gt;&gt; Reporter: AS YOU LAID OUT, RIGHT NOW, OUR UNDERSTANDING FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT IN LAS VEGAS, FROM WHAT THEY'RE SAYING PUBLICLY, THEY ARE GOING FROM BUILDING TO BUILDING, ROOM TO ROOM, TO SEARCH FOR ANY POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL VICTIMS. AT THIS POINT THEY BELIEVE THE SHOOTER, AS YOU SAID, THE SUSPECTED SHOOTER IN THIS INCIDENT IS DOWN AND NOW DECEASED. BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE GOING TO STOP THEIR SEARCHES AT THIS POINT, GIVEN THE FACT THAT AS YOU REPORTED THERE APPEAR TO BE MULTIPLE SCENES. THERE'S SOME INDICATIONS FROM MULTIPLE SENIOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS WHO HAVE BEEN BRIEFED ON THE MATTER, THAT ON TOP OF THE SUSPECT WHO APPEARS TO BE DECEASED, THERE'S AT LEAST ONE OTHER INDIVIDUAL DECEASED, AND THERE ARE A NUMBER OF VICTIM, WHICH POLICE HAVE STATED PUBLICLY. WE DON'T KNOW WHY THIS HAPPENED. WE DON'T KNOW IF THIS INVOLVED STUDENTS, STAFF OR BOTH. THAT'S SOMETHING WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO FOLLOW. THE ULTIMATE WHY IS WHY ANYBODY WOULD DO THAT, AND GIVEN THE TENSIONS THAT WE'VE SEEN IN ISRAEL AND IN THE MIDDLE EAST, GIVEN THE HEIGHTENED STATE OF AWARENESS THAT LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY, INCLUDING IN BIG CITIES AND AREAS WITH LARGE CAMPUSES HAVE SEEN OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS, SINCE HAMAS EXECUTED THEIR TERRORIST ATTACK AGAINST ISRAEL ON OCTOBER 7thth, THERE'S ALWAYS THE QUESTION OF TERRORISM. LESTER, RIGHT NOW EVERYTHING WE'RE BEING TOLD BY OFFICIALS, IT'S JUST TOO EARLY TO SAY WHY ALL THIS MAY HAVE HAPPENED THIS AFTERNOON. THEY TOLD US, HEY, COPS, NO ONE TOLD US IT WAS COPS AT THE VERY BEGINNING. WE JUST KNEW THERE WERE PEOPLE. JIM, EVERY TIME WE COVERED THESE I'M STRUCK BY HOW PEOPLE WHO ARE WRAPPED UP IN THESE THINGS KNOW WHAT TO DO. THEY'VE HEARD RUN, HIDE, FIGHT. THAT MESSAGE WENT OUT AT ONE POINT TODAY TO PEOPLE ON THE CAMPUS THERE. IT MUST CHANGE THE JOB OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS RESPONDING, KNOWING THAT PEOPLE SORT OF KNOW WHAT TO DO. &gt;&gt; RIGHT. AND THESE YOUNG WOMEN WERE VERY SMART, THEY WERE ALERT, THEY LISTENED TO THE WARNINGS, THEY ASSESSED THEIR SURROUNDINGS, LIKE THEY SAID THEY HAD A LOT OF WINDOWS, THEY KNEW THAT WAS A DANGER. THEY LOCKED DOWN FOR 30 MINUTES AND EVACUATED. SO THEY WERE VERY SMART. THAT'S WHAT EVERYBODY HAS TO DO, AND UNFORTUNATELY IN AMERICA THAT'S WHAT A LOT OF OUR CITIZENS DO DO, BUT IT'S YOUR LAST CHANCE WHEN SOMEBODY HAS FIREARMS ON A MURDER SPREE. &gt;&gt; THERE IS A REPORT WE'RE HEARING THAT THERE IS NO SIGN OF A SECOND SUSPECT, BUT A LOT OF THE ACTIVITY WE SEE, I ASSUME, IS LOOKING FOR THAT POSSIBILITY IN A CASE LIKE THIS? &gt;&gt; YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO DO IT, LESTER. WE ALWAYS HAVE TO LOOK AND SEE IF THERE'S A CONSPIRATOR. SOMETIMES THERE IS, LIKE COLUMBINE HAD TWO. OF COURSE, THEY ASCRIBED TO NAZI PHILOSOPHY. IT'S HARD TO GET SOME PERSON TO JOIN INTO YOUR MASS KILLING FANTASY, UNLESS YOU'RE PART OF SOME KIND OF ORGANIZED TERROR GROUP OR MOVEMENT, THEN YOU CAN HAVE MULTIPLE SHOOTERS. BUT WHEN IT'S JUST ONE PERSON WHO JUST WANTS TO SEEK REVENGE OR HAS SOME KIND OF MENTAL ISSUE OR REVENGE ISSUE, IT'S HARD TO ENLIST SOMEONE ELSE FOR THAT. SO MOST OF THESE ARE SINGLE PEOPLE, BUT IF IT LAPSES INTO TERROR OR NAZIISM OR HATE CRIMES, THEN SOMETIMES YOU CAN HAVE MULTIPLE SHOOTERS. &gt;&gt; AS WE SAID FROM THE TOP, WE DON'T HAVE A CONFIRMATION OF HOW MANY CASUALTIES THERE MAY BE LINKED TO ALL OF THIS. BUT I WOULD THINK THAT BECOMES A PROBLEM SET OF ITS OWN, MAKING SURE THAT YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR POTENTIAL VICTIMS ARE, WHERE THIS PERSON WAS. &gt;&gt; RIGHT, WHEN YOU GET DISPATCHED, IT'S CHAOS ALL AROUND, IT'S THE FOG OF WAR FOR THE PATROL OFFICERS GETTING THERE. THEY'RE LASER FOCUSED ON LOCATING THE ACTIVE KILLER. HERE WE HAVE ONE MOVING BETWEEN BUILDINGS. HE WAS AT THIS BEAM STUDENT BUILDING AND THEN HE WENT TO THE STUDENT UNION, BY ALL THE WITNESS REPORTS. AND WE'VE SEEN THAT BEFORE. WE SAW IT AT VIRGINIA TECH. WHEN THEY START MOVING AROUND THESE LARGE URBAN CAMPUSES, IT MAKES IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR THE POLICE BECAUSE THEY'RE CHASING BEHIND THE KILLER. WE DON'T KNOW IF HE KILLED HIMSELF OR THE POLICE KILLED HIM OR SOMEBODY ELSE KILLED HIM. BUT AT LEAST IT'S OVER, AND NOW WE CAN DEAL WITH THE AFTERMATH. &gt;&gt; JIM CAVANAUGH, THANKS.
