A teenager is dead and two others are in the hospital after a car crash that occurred just outside Wake Forest city limits early Saturday morning.
State Highway Patrol confirmed that a car with three teenagers around 5 a.m. was driving down Chalk Road at an excessive speed. Troopers, in a release, said the car ran off the road on the left-hand side and struck a ditch on the shoulder.

The car then went airborne, hit a tree and overturned before stopping on the road.
Troopers said the driver of the car, later identified as 17-year-old Jackson Ryan Brookhart, died in the crash.
Neighbors who lived on the street said said they only heard about the crash on TV, but said it wasn't surprised someone crashed on the road.
"I knew exactly where because I know it's a dangerous curve in the road here," said. Rudolph Subryan, who lives on Chalk Road.
Two other teenagers, 18-year-old Reece Campbell and an unidentified 17-year-old, were taken to the hospital. A family member of one of the teens told WRAL News that he's in critical condition.
The names were not released. According to SHP, everyone was wearing a seatbelt.
