A popular brewing company on Tuesday announced it will be closing its taproom in the wake of the arrest of its co-owner on burglary and sex crimes charges.
According to Sycamore Brewing in Charlotte, it will close the Sycamore Taproom on Jan. 5 “to allow space for processing, healing and beginning the work of reimagining” the space.

The closing comes just weeks after Justin Brigham, Sycamore’s co-owner, was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including statutory rape of a child.
Brigham was removed as co-owner and from any stake in Sycamore’s business operations in the wake of his charges, according to Sarah Taylor, Sycamore Brewing's owner and Brigham's wife.
“The serious allegations against my former partner have left me devastated, and my thoughts and heart remain with the victim and her family,” Taylor said in a letter posted on their website. “I cannot begin to imagine the depth of their pain, and my deepest hope is that the legal process brings them the justice, care and protection they deserve.”
Taylor added that she has begun divorce proceedings with Brigham.
Taylor said Sycamore Brewing would continue its philanthropic support in Charlotte and would partner with organizations dedicated to child safety and protection, adding that more on reopening would be shared in 2026.
