Fayetteville, N.C. — A Fayetteville man accused of shooting three people at an after-hours nightclub early Sunday has committed suicide, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office announced Monday night.
Edward Gerald Fisher, 32, of 7326 Hyannis Drive, shot himself in the head, authorities said. His body was found lying near a cemetery off Tabor Church Road around 9:15 p.m. Monday.
Detectives obtained warrants for Edwards’ arrest Monday afternoon on charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill and assault with a deadly weapon.
He was accused of shooting three people at 409 John B. Carter Road after a fight at the party.
The victims were Mariella Nicole Rivas, 20, of Grove View Terrace, David Wayne Robinson, 35, of Gibson Street, and Xavier Kaynon Whitted, 21, of Orbie Circle, all of Fayetteville.
All three were in serious condition at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on Monday night.
"It’s unclear ... why the victims were found in a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds, in another location other than where the party was taking place," sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Smith said in a statement.
Edwards’ body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
