Woman shot at Benson vet

Johnston County authorities on Tuesday afternoon were investigating a shooting at a Benson veterinary clinic.

BENSON, N.C. — Johnston County authorities said a woman was shot inside a Benson veterinary clinic Tuesday afternoon by her boyfriend who drove home and then shot himself.

Catryn Denise Bridges, 42, was shot in the stomach shortly after 12:30 p.m. at Carolina Crossing Veterinary Clinic, at 11760 N.C. Highway 210.

She was listed in good condition at WakeMed in Raleigh Wednesday morning.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office provided few details of the shooting but said Lyle Bernard Parrish, 52, was found dead inside his home at 1296 Old Matthews Road in Clayton.
