RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police arrested Rachel Beatrice Williams, 33, Saturday and charged her with the stabbing death of a Raleigh woman.

Officers were called to 801 Sardis Drive at about 11:30 p.m. Friday. When they arrived, they found Bernice Cobb, 46, dead, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.

Williams, of 500 Steel St., was in the home at the time. She was detained when officers arrived and later charged with Cobb's murder. She was being held without bond pending a hearing on Monday.

Police said the crime was not random, but they did not say how the two women knew each other.

The outstanding questions were disturbing for those who live nearby.

"To know that somebody was murdered, well, somebody was killed over there was kind of frightening," said neighbor Shonn Herring.

"I want to know what's going on," he said. "Why do you need to do all this? Why do we have tape running all from here to here and back down the woods and back up? I really want to know what's going on."
