ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — A Roanoke Rapids man has been arrested three times since Tuesday for allegedly trying to have sex with seven underage girls, police said.

Police said that every time Kevin Johnson, 51, of 812 W. Fifth St., got out of jail, he called the girls again.

Police said they originally had one victim in the case, but since Johnson's arrest on Tuesday night, more have come forward.

Authorities said Johnson started courting a middle school-aged girl and was able to get her to bring some of her friends over. Once the girls, ages 12-15, were at his home, he would provide them with cigarettes, alcohol, marijuana and pills.

Deputy Chief Adam Bondarek said in exchange for the stimulants Johnson wanted sexual acts.

A parent who realized what was happening contacted police.

Investigators have charged Johnson with 75 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and four counts of participating in the prostitution of a juvenile.

Johnson was released on a $5,000 bond after his Tuesday arrest. On Wednesday night, he was arrested again and released on a $10,000 bond.

Johnson was arrested a third time on Thursday. He was being held under a $1 million bond in the Halifax County jail.

On Thursday, police searched Johnson's home and retrieved several items, some of which were sexually explicit, they said.

Johnson's first court appearance was set for Dec. 15.
