RDU — Rapper and Knightdale resident Petey Pablo was arrested at Raleigh-Durham International Airport Saturday morning after security found a gun in his luggage, according to an airport spokeswoman and arrest warrants.

Pablo, whose real name is Moses Barrett III, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a stolen firearm. The weapon was a Smith & Wesson 639, arrest warrants showed.

RDU police arrested the 37-year-old at about 6 a.m. after the gun was found in his carry-on luggage during a security check, said airport spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin.

Pablo was trying to catch a flight to Los Angeles for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, according to a Wake County magistrate.

He posted $50,000 bond at 9:48 a.m. and gave the jailers some of his CDs before he left, according to jail officials. His first court appearance is Monday.

Pablo, who lives at 205 Caribbean Court in Knightdale, was previously arrested in Raleigh in 1993 on armed robbery charges and sentenced to 14 years.

He is best known for his hit songs "Raise Up" and "Freek-a-Leek."
