Cary police step up patrol after home burglaries

Cary police are stepping up patrols in one neighborhood after receiving a report Tuesday about a suspicious white pickup truck near Galsworthy Street.

Capt. Mike Williams said Wednesday that investigators don't have a lot of information about the truck and that they hope an increased police presence can help them better understand the circumstances surrounding Tuesday's report.

Police received a similar report on Sunday, Williams said, but he declined to comment on the details involving that incident.

Rehab Hamad said her children were playing in the front yard Tuesday afternoon when she arrived home and noticed a man in a white pickup truck parked nearby.

She said that, when the man saw her, he immediately left.

Neighbors also reported the truck traveling at a slow speed around 4 p.m. Tuesday, the same time children get home from school.

Williams urged parents to be vigilant when their children are outside playing and to report suspicious activity to police.
