RALEIGH, N.C. — A double shooting outside a Raleigh home Tuesday night left one man dead and another wounded, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.

Sughrue said that Ezekiel Abanishe Crowder, 30, and Marcus Qutavis McClenningham, 30, were sitting on the porch of a home at 609 Hay Lane around 10 p.m.

"Someone walked up to the house and just started shooting,” police Capt. Chris Bertram said. Neighbors said they heard a series of gunshots.

Crowder suffered critical injuries and was taken to WakeMed, where he died. McClenningham was shot in the arm and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He was released from the hospital Wednesday evening.

State Department of Correction records show McClenningham has convictions for breaking-and-entering, larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia from incidents in 2002 and 2003.

Investigators spent the night combing the scene for evidence and talking to witnesses.

Detectives asked for help from the public in identifying the suspect, whom Sughrue described as a black man with a dark complexion in his late teens or early 20s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and a black do-rag.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department at 919-996-3555 or Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that help solve cases.
