N.C. authorities help search for missing girl

Alexis Cartwright, 11, of Bath, N.C., was last seen at the Cumberland Children’s Hospital in New Kent County, Virginia. Alexis is in need of immediate medical attention, officials said.

BATH, N.C. — The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons is assisting Virginia authorities in the search for a missing 11-year-old girl.

Alexis Cartwright was last seen at the Cumberland Children’s Hospital in New Kent County, Virginia. Alexis’s medical condition is serious and she is in need of immediate medical attention, officials said.

Alexis and her family are from Bath, N.C.

The child is described as a white female, about 5-foot-3 and 135 pounds. She has blond hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue coat with an Aeropostale logo, a yellow and green shirt and blue jeans.

Authorities believe Alexis may be with her father, 55-year-old Lemuel Cartwright. He is described as a 6-foot-7 white male. He has brown eyes and brown hair.

They may be traveling in a blue 1993 Dodge RAM 1500 pick-up truck, with N.C. registration XYZ-8450.

Warrants with full extradition have been issued for Lemuel Cartwright, authorities said.
