RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man used a bicycle to try to kill another man during a robbery last month on Malta Avenue, according to arrest warrants.

Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said that Brian Keith Boozer, 20, of Raleigh, got into a dispute with Clifton William Batts, 33, shortly after midnight Sept. 15. Boozer hit and kicked Batts, then used a bicycle to threaten and beat him.

Boozer then stole a wallet and $20 from Batts, the warrant says.

Batts suffered serious injuries and was treated at WakeMed.

Boozer was charged with attempted murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree kidnapping.

He was being held in the Wake County Jail Saturday under a $2 million secured bond. His first court appearance was set for Monday morning.
