RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man is scheduled to go to trial in November on an upgraded charge of second-degree murder in a wreck that killed a 17-year-old Chapel Hill High School graduate more than a year ago.

Justin Caleb Crouse, 20, of 4612 Limerick Drive, was initially charged with felony death by motor vehicle and provisional driving while impaired after the July 12, 2008, wreck that killed Lillian "Lilli" Broox Manis.

Court records show that the provisional DWI was voluntarily dismissed, while the felony death by motor vehicle charge was upgraded to second-degree murder. A judge on Monday set a trial date on that charge for Nov. 9.

Crouse also faces charges of felony assault causing serious bodily injury for injuries sustained in the wreck by Manis' boyfriend, then-17-year-old Philip Iavorov Jurov, of Durham.
