SPRING LAKE, N.C. — Homicide detectives arrested three more people Friday in connection with the July 26 shooting death of a doughnut shop worker, according the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives believe that the suspects – April Marie Cox, 20, Ebony Shavonne Jones, 21, and Shontae Daniele Johnson-Forbes, 20 – lied to investigators about the whereabouts of a suspect on the night that three gunmen robbed and killed Ranesh Rai, 66, while he was working at the Donut Connection.

The suspect, Patrick King, 18, later surrendered to police on charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery and felony conspiracy. Luis Marquez-Lopez, 19, and Angel Bonilla, 18, face the same charges.

Cox, of 2336 Cattail Circle in Fayetteville; Jones, who is homeless; and Johnson-Forbes, of 500 Oakwood Ave. in Sanford, were being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center Friday under separate $100,000 bonds.Their first court appearance was set for Monday.

King, Bonilla and Marquez-Lopez are being held without bond.
