HENDERSON, N.C. — Authorities are investigating a shootout that took place early Sunday at America's Best Value Inn, 200 Parham Road in Henderson.

The Henderson Police Department got a call about the shooting at about 2 a.m., a spokesman said. A witness told WRAL that he heard several shots being fired.

“It sounded like people were banging on my door. Next thing I knew, people were just shooting in the hallways, everywhere. It was just, ‘Pow, pow, pow, pow.’ He shot off like 25 to 30 shots in the hallway,” witness William Cash said.

Henderson Police Lt. Pulley said David Hicks, 22, of Dick Faines Road, died from a gunshot wound.

Paramedics transported a 16-year-old and a 20-year-old to Maria Parham Medical Center.  One victim was treated and released.  The other victim was taken to another hospital where he was listed in good condition Sunday.

Pulley did not identify the injured victims. Police and sheriff's deputies were at the hotel Sunday continuing their investigation. They said weapons were recovered at the scene.
