SPRING LAKE, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff's detectives say they are questioning a Fort Bragg soldier about a Sunday morning shooting in Spring Lake.

Detectives say that gunfire broke out at the Jamaican Restaurant and Lounge, 129 N. Main St., shortly after 4 a.m. One man was found dead at the scene. A second man suffered a gunshot wound and was transported by ambulance to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Christopher Broadway of Unit 259, Field Service Battalion, was believed to have information that may help in the investigation and was taken into custody late Sunday, detectives said. Broadway is not a suspect, Cumberland County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said in a release Tuesday.

The identities of the victims had not been released Sunday evening.

Anyone who may have information about the shootings was asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500.
