SELMA, N.C. — A domestic dispute at a Fourth of July party at a Selma home ended in a shooting that injured four family members, police said.

Investigators said a man got into an argument with his estranged girlfriend during a party at 203 Valley Court after midnight. Family members tried to intervene, and the ex-boyfriend his estranged girlfriend and her boyfriend before turning the gun on himself.

The three wounded people, whose names were withheld, were taken to WakeMed in Raleigh. Police said early Sunday that all three were in critical condition.

A fourth person was treated and released for a superficial wound to the hand.

Detectives said they believe one of the hospitalized men was the shooter.

Alcohol might also have been a contributing factor to the shooting, investigators said.
