Crash injures two children in Rocky Mount

The children did not appear to be seriously injured in the two-truck crash at Wesleyan Boulevard and Harbor West Drive.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — In Rocky Mount, a pickup truck carry two children flipped over in an accident Sunday afternoon.

The wreck happened at the corner of Wesleyan Boulevard and Harbor West Drive. Witnesses said another vehicle ran a red light and hit the pickup carrying the two young children and their grandparents.

WRAL reporter Sloane Heffernan and photographer Greg Clark arrived before emergency crews and helped with the injured kids.

A witness helped free the family from the wreck.

"Then I jumped out and busted the windshield out and got them people out. They were yelling and screaming inside," the man said a few moments later.

Rocky Mount police withheld details about crash, but the two children and their grandparents did not appear to suffer any life-threatening injuries.
