The state Highway Patrol investigates a fatal accident at Buffaloe Road and Westminster Drive in Raleigh.

<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — The state Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident on Buffaloe Road at Westminster Drive in Raleigh.

A sports utility vehicle crossed the center line and struck a Honda Accord head-on, troopers said. 

The driver of the Honda was killed. Three other people, including two children, from his vehicle were transported to WakeMed with serious injuries.

The driver of the SUV was also hospitalized.

Authorities withheld the names and conditions of the victims.

WRAL News was told that 22 students were on board, ages 5 to 11. Two students were taken to WakeMed for femur fractures and facial lacerations. Six other students were taken to a hospital in Smithfield.
