Store Clerk Hospitalized After Shooting; Gunman Sought

Wake Forest police are asking for the public’s help in capturing a man wanted in connection with a convenience store robbery and shooting of clerk Samir Patel.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — Wake Forest police are asking for the public’s help in capturing a man wanted in connection with a robbery and shooting of a store clerk.

At about 8:30 p.m. Friday, a man entered the Quality Food Mart, 2206 S. Main St., and shot store clerk Samir Patel in the abdomen. The man then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Patel, 32, was working alone and managed to call 911 after the shooting. He was listed in serious condition Saturday night at WakeMed.

Police described the shooter as a black male between 5 feet, 5 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with shoulder-length dreadlocks. He was wearing a red shirt or jacket.

Anyone near the Quality Food Mart around the time of the shooting is asked to call the Wake Forest Police Department at (919) 556-9111.
