Silver Alert for Durham Man Canceled

The N.C. Center for Missing Persons canceled a Silver Alert after a missing 79-year-old Durham man was found un harmed Monday afternoon.

DURHAM, N.C. — The N.C. Center for Missing Persons canceled a Silver Alert after finding a 79-year-old Durham unharmed Monday afternoon.

George Edward Schlager was found in his car on his the Durham Freeway, prompting authorities to cancel the Silver Alert at 5 p.m. Schlager appeared to be OK, police said.

Earlier Monday afternoon, authorities said Schlager had last been seen driving away from his Durham home on N.C. Highway 751 toward Jordan Lake.

Silver Alerts are issued for missing adults who are believed to be suffering from Alzheimer's or another cognitive impairment.
