Durham, N.C. — One man was killed and another injured in a shooting Tuesday afternoon at an abandoned house in Durham County, the sheriff's department said.
At about 1:30 p.m., officers were called to 3207 Wake Forest Highway, just outside the city limits, Durham County sheriff's investigator Paul Martin said.
They found 38-year-old Steven L. Mitchell of 114 S. Woodcrest St. with a gunshot wound to the head behind the house. He died.
A second man, whom authorities declined to identify, was found in the front yard with a gunshot wound. He was treated at Duke University Hospital and released, Martin said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Lt. S.E. Harris at (919) 730 -5068 or Capt. Paul Martin at (919) 730-1549.
