Woman Hit by Tanker Truck in Critical Condition
A woman who was hit by a tanker truck in Cary early Saturday morning was listed in critical condition Sunday.
Posted — UpdatedElizabeth Lucresia Peterson, 19, was hit while walking across U.S. Highway 1 South. The driver stopped and called 911, Lt. Mark Parker of the Cary Police Department said.
Peterson suffered serious injuries and was transported to WakeMed. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, Parker said. The investigation into who was at fault continued.
Investigators spent two days trying to identify Maria Ponce-Perez, 27, after a car hit and killed her near the intersection of Reedy Creek Road and Dynasty Drive on Tuesday. No one reported her as missing, but immigration officials found a fingerprint match in their records.
