State BoE Chairman Receives Award
State Board of Education Chairman Howard Lee recently received “The Distinguished Service Award” from the National Association of State Boards of Education in recognition of his outstanding service to public education, school officials announced.

The annual award, which was given to four state board members, was presented to Lee at NASBE’s 2007 Fall Conference held in Philadelphia.
“[Lee’s] communication and collaboration skills combined with his contacts and experience in the legislature have made [him] one of the most effective and influential educational leaders in North Carolina,” said NASBE Executive Director Brenda Welburn.
