RALEIGH — Athletic clothing worn by two teens was of key interest to robbers Saturday night, who ordered them to hand over their Nike sweatshirt and shoes. The theft occurred outside a Raleigh convenience store.
The teens, ages 15 and 17, told police they often shop at the store, but rarely do so at night because it is badly lighted.
Saturday night, as the teens left the store with their snacks, two robbers with a rifle came out of the shadows. They asked one teen his shoe size, and then ordered him to turn over the Nike Scottie Pippen athletic shoes he was wearing. The other victim was ordered to surrender his Nike sweatshirt. Their wallets were also taken.
One of the suspects was caught about 11 p.m. at a nearby apartment.
The robbery occurred outside the In and Out convenience store at Creech and Sanderford Roads.
