DURHAM — The head of the president's commission on race is under fire for not listening to all viewpoints during the group's discussions on race.
Critics say North Carolina historian John Hope Franklin has taken a close-minded approach to the commission's work. They say Franklin is unwilling to hear opponents of affirmative action speak.
Franklin says he is trying to help bring the nation together on race, not further divide it.
