Pope Airmen Home for Holidays

About 30 pilots returned to Pope AFB Monday from the Persian Gulf.
POPE AFB — Members of the 75th Fighter squadron are backhome just in time for the holidays. About 30 pilots and six A-10's arrivedat Pope Air Force Base Monday.

The squadron spent the past 53 days enforcing the no-fly zone oversouthern Iraq. The mission was part of a regular rotation, but it wasanything but routine.

The squadron was there when tensions with Iraq were at their highest, but one unidentified pilot said there were no incidents.

Now that the 75th squadron is back home, the 74th squadron based atPope has taken over enforcement duty in in Iraq.
