RALEIGH — Wake County's homeless population got an earlyChristmas present Monday. Federal funding for various projects in thearea was forthcoming from Vice President Al Gore and HUD.
Raleigh Mayor Tom Fetzer received the good news today in a conferencecall with Gore and Urban Development Secretary Andrew Cuomo.
HUD is funding providing $800 million to local agencies across thecountry. Wake and Raleigh will get $1.6 million. Eight local agencies willshare the funds.
Fetzer said he didn't forget to thank Gore and Cuomo.
The money will be used to create more housing for the homeless, and toincrease services provided.
