Early Morning Wreck Kills Four, Injures Six

LUMBERTON — A group of holiday travelers never made itto their destination early Saturday morning. A traffic accident onInterstate 95 sent their van off the road, causing it to overturn to afatal stop.

The accident happened north of Lumberton around 1:30 a.m. Officers saythe van sideswiped another vehicle, causing it to crash. Four peopleriding in the van were killed.

They are identified as 71-year-old Leroy Brown, 63-year-old Vera Porter,62-year-old Malachi Brown and 57-year-old Oletha Cameron.

All of the deceased were from Paterson, New Jersey. Six other peoplewere injured in the accident. There's no word on their conditions, or ifthose people were in the van or the car that was sideswiped.

Alcohol does not appear to have played a part in the wreck.
