RALEIGH — Some IBM workers in Charlotte are looking for new jobs. The company laid off hundreds of employees effective Tuesday in a cost-cutting move.
IBM had offered a job buyout program hoping to ward off the cutbacks, but not enough people took advantage of it.
Workers at the Research Triangle Park facility have until Wednesday to decide whether to accept their buyout package. If too many people refuse here, IBM will lay off more workers.
The company says people who lose their jobs will get sixty days notice and benefits.
