WILMINGTON — Officials in New Hanover County have been talking for weeks about a controversial plan to give teen girls money for notgetting pregnant.
The idea went up for vote Monday night and it appears it was a little too hot to handle. County leaders have tabled a vote on the proposal indefinitely.
The plan would have set up a lottery to pay girls up to $25,000 to stay in school and get pregnant.
