DURHAM — The Bull City is getting ready to officially welcome the holiday season. Light up Durham is a joint effort between public school students. Sunday, they got together for their one and only chance to rehearse as a group before Monday night's big event.
The students gathered at center stage Sunday afternoon to practice their show. Show producer Stephen Barefoot says the show is a great showcase for the children.
Student Jasmin McGhee says she loves doing the show.
Student Alison Mendys says this is an important event for her.
While all agree it's fun, most say it's also a lot of hard work putting the show together -- especially with just one day to practice getting it all right.
There will also be an auction of trees decorated by local students.
The students will be the opening act for no less than the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes, who will also be strutting their stuff.
Light Up Durham gets underway Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The gates open at 6:30 p.m..
WRAL-TV5'sPam Saulsbywill be there live starting at 5 p.m.
