Traffic Changes Coming for Cary Crossroads

CARY — Cary is the fastest growing city in NorthCarolina, but all that development is forcing state transportation workersto look for ways to ease traffic congestion there. The state wants to makesome changes in the Cary's Crossroads Shopping area.

Right now the plan is to widen both Walnut Street and US 1-64. Thecurrent on and off ramps would be replaced with a two way loop, but nodecision has been made yet regarding the exact size or placement of theloop.

The project will cost about $20 million. Construction should beginin 2002.
