Raleigh Starts Leaf PickUp

Posted November 3, 1997 12:00 a.m. EST

— As the days advance, red, orange and gold autumn leaves are drifting down on lawns and sidewalks. So once again, the sound of the leaf blower is heard in the land -- and so is the scratch of rakes.

The city of Raleigh is ready to help out -- it begins the seasonal leaf collection program today.

Crews will begin collections on the east side of Atlantic Avenue and cover the city in a clockwise direction.

Residents are asked to rake leaves to the curb and not to pile leaves in the street or along the gutter.
