FRANKLINTON — Franklin County investigators have made no arrests in the death of an elderly woman. Deputies say someone broke into the home of 90 year old Mary Alice Harris sometime late Sunday or early Monday Morning.
She was beaten to death in the house near Franklinton. Harris's roommate, 88-year old Graham Perry, was also severely beaten and is still recovering at Duke Medical Center.
Officers suspect robbery was the motive.
Robbery appears to be the motivation behind this attack. The Sheriff's Department says whoever did this fled with an unknown amount of cash.
A friend of Harris says her own kindness may have made her a target. She would often lend money to any friend who was in need.
