RALEIGH — North Carolina State University may be able tobuild a meat processing plant in west raleigh, after all, despite anearlier ruling by city officials that it could not. School officials wantto build the facility at the veterinary school across from the statefairgrounds.
Raleigh officials ruled Monday night that the proposed building doesnot meet the legal definition of a slaughterhouse, because it is muchsmaller than traditional commercial meat processing plants.
Monday night's decision could mean the university won't need specialzoning approval to build the facility.
