RALEIGH — The body of a Weaverville woman was found in a car trunk in northern Wake County Saturday night. Her 29-year-old son has been charged in her slaying.
Officials said Joan V. Hines, 54, was found in the trunk of her 1996 green Volvo. Her son, Brady Hines, 29, had been in Wake County at least 24 hours and was visiting friends near Honeycutt Road.
Maj. Danny Bellamy of the Wake County Sheriff's Office said the murder apparently occurred in Weaverville, a town north of Asheville. The body had been transported to Raleigh, where it was discovered in the vehicle parked at 508 Woodwind Court.
Mrs. Hines body was found wrapped in a blanket. Officials declined to describe the wounds found on her body. An autopsy will be performed to determine cause and time of death.
Her son is being held without bond at Wake County jail.
