FAYETTEVILLE — The man who police say fired shots outside a Fayetteville fast food restaurant Monday is now behind bars. One of the two shooting victims is dead.
Police say 44-year-old Daniel McLaughlin shot and killed his wife, Lenora McLaughlin, in the chest outside the Wendy's restaurant on McPherson Church Road during an argument Monday at midday. He left the scene in a taxi which police say they spotted and stopped minutes later. The cab driver, Roscoe Hotten, was shot in the back, but he is expected to survive. He is listed in stable condition at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
McLaughlin is being held without bond, charged with murder, first degree kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon.
Police say the McLaughlins were recently separated.
