Raleigh Neighborhood Stages Clean-Up

RALEIGH — Residents along Raleigh's Peach Road tookadvantage of Saturday's wonderful weather to spruce up their neighborhood.They hope the benefits will also include closer relationships amongneighbors and a reduction in crime.

Police officers pitched in as well, working side by side with residentsto pick up trash along the street. They all cleared fallen trees and threwaway trash.

Officer I. Perez said the department was pitching in to help strengthenthe bond with neighbors so that they all work together in fighting crime.

This was the first time the neighborhood got together to clean upbut they plan to do it again soon.

"Our goal is to be a community together -- peaceful, harmonious, tocare for each other. And to have a safe neighborhood," said resident JeaneWaters.
