RALEIGH — Residents along Raleigh's Peach Road took advantage of Saturday's wonderful weather to spruce up their neighborhood. They hope the benefits will also include closer relationships among neighbors and a reduction in crime.
Police officers pitched in as well, working side by side with residents to pick up trash along the street. They all cleared fallen trees and threw away trash.
Officer I. Perez said the department was pitching in to help strengthen the bond with neighbors so that they all work together in fighting crime.
This was the first time the neighborhood got together to clean up but they plan to do it again soon.
"Our goal is to be a community together -- peaceful, harmonious, to care for each other. And to have a safe neighborhood," said resident Jeane Waters.
