LILLINGTON — One of three Harnett County corrections officers accused of dealing drugs behind prison walls says he was framed.
Investigators have charged Ray Smith, one other officer, and an inmate at the Harnett Correctional Institution with selling marijuana to prisoners.
Ray Smith says the accusations are not true.
Smith admits he assisted the accused inmate with making some phone calls, but says those calls were for legal help only.
Smith's wife says their lives are in a turmoil over this incident.
Smith says he thinks the inmate said Smith was involved and that was believed.
