SILER CITY\ — There were some scary moments Saturday afternoon for the passengers andpilot of a small aircraft flying over Chatham County. The plane wasforced to make an emergency landing. The nearest runway was Highway 421.
WRAL has been told the plane made a successful landing around theintersection of Hwy. 421 and Gilmore Lodge Road, just south of Siler City.No one in the plane or on the ground was injured.
The landing has both directions of 421 blocked, while the aircraft isremoved. There's no word yet what problems the plane was experiencing, orwhat provoked the pilot to made an emergency landing.
