Day Care Operator Charged in Infant's Death Talks to WRAL

RALEIGH — Tracy Stidham is facing manslaughter charges in connection with thedeath of an infant in her care. She has now been formally charged, as hasa 7-year-old boy who was also in her care at the time.

Stidham told WRAL-TV5'sMarkRobertsthat she wants to make her side of the story clear after herfirst court appearance. She admits to leaving 7 children unattended in herunlicensed home day care center last month. She says it was a mistake,but claims the person responsible for little Bailey Tippett's death is a7-year-old boy who was also under her care.

Stidham's husband Mark claims July 9th was the first time his wife leftchildren unattended.

Tracy Stidham says she didn't do anything to hurt the children and thatshe wouldn't have left them if she had knows the infant would be indanger.

Tracy Stidham as been charged with involuntary manslaughter inconnection with the infant's death. The unidentified 7-year-old child ischarged with voluntary manslaughter.
