Day Care Operator Charged in Infant's Death Talks to WRAL

RALEIGH — Tracy Stidham is facing manslaughter charges in connection with the death of an infant in her care. She has now been formally charged, as has a 7-year-old boy who was also in her care at the time.
Stidham told WRAL-TV5'sMark Robertsthat she wants to make her side of the story clear after her first court appearance. She admits to leaving 7 children unattended in her unlicensed home day care center last month. She says it was a mistake, but claims the person responsible for little Bailey Tippett's death is a 7-year-old boy who was also under her care.
Stidham's husband Mark claims July 9th was the first time his wife left children unattended.
Tracy Stidham says she didn't do anything to hurt the children and that she wouldn't have left them if she had knows the infant would be in danger.
Tracy Stidham as been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the infant's death. The unidentified 7-year-old child is charged with voluntary manslaughter.
