RALEIGH — A North Carolina State University public safety officer was arrested Monday afternoon, according to the Wake County Magistrate's office.
Lt. Pierre Debnam was arrested and charged with a second degree forcible sex offense that happened during a DWI traffic stop while Debnam was on duty at NC State.
Debnam was still in jail Monday afternoon, although the magistrates' office said he was attempting to make bail.
Larry Ellis, the director of Public Safety at the NC State, said the Department of Public Safety is investigating, but wouldn't comment on it because it is a personnel matter. He did say the department's policy is to put people on paid leave when they are arrested.
Raleigh police are also investigating.
