Several Groups Raising Funds for Fallen Detective's Family

— The murder of Raleigh Detective Paul Hale has many people looking for ways to help his family.

Thursday, G-105 and three other Triangle radio stations teamed up at North Hills Mall in Raleigh to raise money for the Hale Memorial Fund. People stopped by today to drop off donations. Money raised there will go to a scholarship fund for Hale's 7- and 10-year-old daughters. Officer Hale was shot and killed Friday during a shoot-out with a murder suspect.

And that was just one of several fund raisers held Thursday to honor Detective Hale. The First Citizens banks in Cameron Village and North Ridge on Falls of Neuse, both in Raleigh, are collecting donations for the Hale family until 7 p.m. Thursday. Those donations will also fund college scholarships for Hale's daughters.
