FAYETTEVILLE — Fayetteville police continued to negotiate with a man holed up in a downtown Fayetteville blood donation center Monday night.
The unidentified man was holding off police in the Alpha Plasma Center on Franklin Street. According to witnesses, the man has fired two shots. No one has been injured and the gunman has no hostages.
Police have cordoned off a block downtown as they peacefully negotiate with the man from across the street.
The incident started between 2 and 3 p.m. when a Cumberland County Sheriff's deputy attempted to serve papers on the man in connection with a domestic dispute. That's when the man brandished a handgun, the deputy backed away, and the standoff began.
At last report, police were continuing negotiations, hoping to guide the situation to a peaceful end.
