CHATHAM COUNTY — Vandals targeted construction equipment belonging to the Department of Transportation Saturday night causing about $80,000 in damage.
The equipment was parked along Christian Chapel Church Road when police said someone bashed in windows, ripped out radios and even torched some of the equipment.
According to DOT workers, it is not unusual for their equipment to be vandalized.
Taxpayers normally pick up the cost for repairs.
Officials have no word on suspects tonight.
