DURHAM — Thousands of people picked up theirtelephones on Sunday and helped the Duke Children's Miracle NetworkTelethon, broadcast on WRAL-TV5, raise over $2 million for the DukeChildren's Hospital.
The fund-raiser lasted from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., with anchorBill Leslie, joined by Yvonne Simons and Waltye Rasulala, who encouragedviewers to call in and make a contribution.
People called in from all over to pledge money and even challengedfriends and co-workers to donate.
Businesses and sports figures were also part of the line-up, fromthe national Orlando base of the program.
