FAYETTEVILLE — A Cumberland County elementary school principal spent Thursday night on the school roof, kept company by a school board member.
The two men were making good on a challenge they had presented to Longhill Elementary students earlier this year. They challenged the students to earn 21,000 reading-points, and said they would spend a night under the stars if the students reached their goal. The students got points for every book they read.
Longhill only has about 400 students, so they had to do quite a bit of reading in order to reach the goal. The students seemed quite entertained by the comically-clad officials atop their school.
