Officers Bring Olympic Spirit to Triangle

RALEIGH — The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is underway across thestate. Here in the triangle, officers are preparing for their role in therun.

They're tossing out the sirens and making some suds. It's the car washFundraiser for North Carolina Special Olympics. Today's donations will goto the statewide campaign for Law enforcement Torch Run.

More than 25-hundred officers are taking part in the relay to pass theSpecial Olympics flame of hope across the state. The final leg of The LawEnforcent Torch Run is next Friday during the Opening Ceremonies.

That's Friday, May 30th in Raleigh. You can head to Hardee's Walnut CreekAmphitheater from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. for the ceremony. The games begn Saturday at 8:00 a.m.

As a note, the Triangle is gearing up for the1999 World Special OlympicsSummer Games, featuring 7,000 athletes from more than 150 countries.
