— Two people are dead after a head-on crash in Durham Saturday night.

The names of those involved have not been officially released.

Officials said a white pickup truck traveling north on East Geer Street crossed the center line. It crashed into a southbound tow truck.

The two men in the pickup were thrown more than 100 feet from point of impact.

The tow truck driver attempted to swerve onto the shoulder, according to an investigating trooper.

The tow truck driver, accompanied by his girlfriend, had been on his way to answer a service call on I-40. They were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
